nice post. Congrats on the blog’s success. It is a lot of work and can be frustrating at times but when you get that small victory it is worth it. I would be curious to hear more about your investments and what you decide to do. I am not one of those who thinks I have all the answers and I like to consider all my options. More information is almost always better imho. Thanks for sharing !

Spend Less Than You Earn…Or Stop Complaining!
There are no shortage of ways to separate you from you hard earned money. It takes serious discipline in this day and age to resist. We are inundated with ads, quick shipping items and images of how “stuff” will change your life for the better. For me I realized it when I was 40 and had less than 50K saved for retirement. The light went on and since then I am a saving machine. Mostly out of fear. Thanks for sharing!

Not So Fun Friday: Time to Start Working Out Again
I am in the same boat except that I was in good shape at one point in the last couple of years before letting myself go. Now I am dedicated to getting back to that level of fitness. I am also well over 40 and it is harder than ever to keep going. One thing that does work for me is the spreadsheet. I track every workout. This gives me a visual way of looking at what I have done. There is nothing more sobering than seeing you only went to the gym 5 times in a month. I am off to a pretty good start this year with workout number 12 today. That is a frequency of 44% which is still a little low but much better. I think it is gut-check time (no pun intended) and you just have to decide that the time is right. I wish you luck on achieving the goal.

Inauguration 2017: The Day We Never Expected to See
FS,
I have to admit, I NEVER thought this day would come. I am not a Trump supporter but it bothered me that so many Democrats boycotted the inauguration. You should have a little respect for the office of the President of the United States. You don’t have to like him, support him, or be happy about his election but as Americans we should all be pulling for him to succeed. It baffles me how people ‘take their ball and go home’ when they don’t get their way. If I have to look at another picture of an ultra liberal crying hysterically because he won, I am going lose it. Get a grip people ! Remember it is never as bad as it seems and it is never as good as it seems. The truth always lies somewhere in the middle. He may not be the best President when all is said and done but he also may not be the worst. Let’s wait and see how it plays out. I for one, am willing to give him a chance and see how it plays out. His success is my success. Thanks for being brave to post on this topic!

The Ups and Downs of Blogging
You basically described my blogging life in this post. Periods of boom and bust with frustration in between. I really like blogging to stoke the fire of ideas but to also, as you say keep yourself accountable. I have been so busy since the summer, I have had a difficult time keeping up with the blog but I am about to go on a posting tear as I have about 15 drafts started and I am re-engaging in the site. Thanks for posting this as it is nice to see I am not the only one who struggles blogging from time to time. Cheers ! Best of Luck!

Reinvent Yourself Every 15 Years
Hey FS, I am exiting software development, and trying to do Data Science. Both are technical fields but pretty different in their own right. If this doesn’t work out I am open to just about anything. I really hate Software and I do not plan to go back unless absolutely necessary.

Healthcare to energy is quite the change. Would love to hear how you accomplished that. I know changes can be done but you really have to bear down and wait for someone to take a chance on you , at least that is what I see so far. Good luck, thanks for the reply.
