Comment on Frugal or Cheap? by Apathy Ends.

If I buy something, it has to be quality – have learned that lesson to many times. Cheap blue ray player was the last straw

I usually go cheap on household goods where brands mean nothing to me.

Set Specific Goals – Aim Small, Miss Small
We have yearly goals set that are pretty specific and track our progress throughout the year.

Savings rate, Roth IRA contributions and 401k contributions are a few we set

One thing we need to start working on is a few longer term goals – that our smaller goals can work towards

Confidence Can Be Learned
Knowing your strengths and weaknesses is a must, play to your strengths and push them to get ahead, but admiting your weaknesses will get you a ton of respect very quickly as well. If you can say “I’m not the person for this job” and pass along a name of the person who is, you win on 2 fronts – admiting you can’t do it all and recommending a co-worker that will be able to return the favor.

I am a terrible trainer, I don’t have enough patience, so when something like that comes along I pass the responsibility to someone who is much better than me – everyone wins

Strong Support System Benefits
It took me awhile to win Mrs. AE over to the FIRE mindset, but I think we are on the right path now (still banking that she will thank me later)

The community of bloggers is awesome and a valuable resource that I am glad I tapped into so early!

I need to start working on my family, they have no clue how much money we save or our plans to not work forever

Renting vs Buying
Your breakdown for home ownership looks accurate and I think a lot of people ignore some of the costs.

I prefer to own, and treat any home purchase as an investment on top of a place to live – MN real estate has been insane the last year, a lot of people are priced out of the market

Side Business Ideas – Working With Your Hands
I did the blue collar thing while going to college (concrete) and it is tough work! Not something j would want to do everyday.

I do enjoy side projects however, building tables, garden boxes, landscaping etc (as long as it’s on my time and I don’t need to be rushed)

I have considered selling reclaimed wood furniture
